With support from The Co-operators and the Canadian Automatic Sprinkler Association (CASA) the nonprofit Home Fire Sprinkler Coalition (HFSC) awarded C$500 stipends to 20 Canadian Fire Departments to host a community event to promote home fire sprinklers this year. Fire departments could use the stipends to build or refurbish and conduct a fire and sprinkler side-by-side demonstration or build a home fire sprinkler display.
To apply for a stipend, the fire department had to be an HFSC Built for Life Fire Department (BFLFD). The program is open to any fire department that promotes home fire sprinklers. Built for Life Fire Departments also had access to HFSC’s free resources and materials. Stipends recipients were required to complete an evaluation following the event.
